What Botox does, and what it doesn’t
Botox relaxes the tiny muscles whose repeated contractions crease your skin: the forehead rows, the frown ’11s’, the crow’s feet when you smile. Relaxed muscles stop folding the skin, and the lines smooth out over 3–7 days.
What it doesn’t do: fill hollow areas (that’s filler), tighten loose skin (that’s RF tightening), or fix skin texture (that’s resurfacing). A good doctor tells you which tool your face actually needs, sometimes it isn’t Botox at all.
Beyond wrinkles: the treatments people don’t expect
Jaw slimming (masseter Botox) relaxes bulky chewing muscles, softening a square jaw and dramatically reducing teeth grinding. Gummy smile correction lowers an over-lifting upper lip by a few precise millimetres. The lip flip subtly rolls the upper lip outward without filler volume. And underarm hyperhidrosis treatment keeps excessive sweating off for months per session. All are doctor-performed at Venus Aesthetics.
The safety checklist that actually matters
Four non-negotiables before anyone injects your face: 1) A doctor injects, not a beautician, not a technician. 2) Genuine product, shown to you, sealed, batch-coded, opened in front of you. Counterfeit toxin is the industry’s dirty secret. 3) Conservative dosing, you can always add units at review; you can’t subtract them. 4) A review appointment, accountability for the result. This checklist is standard policy at every Venus Aesthetics branch.
The myths, retired
‘Botox freezes your face’, bad dosing freezes faces; proper micro-dosing preserves expression. ‘Once you start you can’t stop’, stop anytime; muscles simply return to baseline over months. ‘It’s unsafe’, it’s one of the most-studied aesthetic medicines on earth, with decades of safety data at cosmetic doses. ‘It’s only for women’, men’s Botox (‘Brotox’) is among our fastest-growing treatments, especially masseter and frown-line work.
